There are numerous drug test that both individuals and companies can use to check up on children, employees and significant others. The level of effectiveness varies from test to test, and is not constant with different drugs. For many purposes however, a saliva test is an economical and efficient way of verifying if someone is currently under the effects of an intoxicating or performance altering substance.

Many times companies have extensive budgets for drug testing. Lab based urine tests are often a high and regular cost for businesses that need constant assurance regarding their employees. Saliva drug tests however, cost less, are far easier to implement, and with the right staffing they can be taken care of right on sight.

This method of test is far less invasive than others. Because the subject does not have to collect urine the entire process can be completed within view of the administering individual. This leaves far less room for there to be any switching of saliva samples. With urine there is always a dubious aspect to the accuracy of the testing due to the individuals need for privacy. All of the actions involved with a saliva test can be made directly in the line of sight of the administrator, which leaves far less room for error.

In many cases the testing kits cost about one-fourth of the total cost of a laboratory urine test. Additionally, because these can be taken care of in house, there is less of loss of manpower, as employees do not have to take extensive time away from the job for the process. Over time the savings certainly significant.

A saliva drug test can generally recognize alcohol that was consumed within the last 6-12 hours. Marijuana can be detected up to a full day after its use. Both opiates and methamphetamine can be recognized for several days after use, making this method of checking employee drug effective for companies that require their workers to drive or operate heavy machinery.

Are you undergoing a urine drug test and is anxious about it? Fret not as there are means to pass it naturally. Continue reading to find out some trouble-free methods to do so.

Refrain from getting involved with drugs before undergoing the examination. For how long, it depends on which types of drugs you take. For instance, it’s said that traces of marijuana in your body can last for as long as a couple of months. Additionally, it depends on how much you have consumed or how fast your body can metabolize the substance.

Fat-soluble drugs reside in your fat cells. One way of dealing with such is by getting rid of fats through regular exercising. Effective fat-burning routines involve aerobic exercises. Some examples include brisk walking, jogging, swimming, biking, dancing, etc. Of course you should give sufficient time for the results to take place.

Some people swear by using a sauna. In a way, this may produce some desirable results as it makes you sweat a lot. And sweating is one of your body’s ways of removing accumulated toxins within you. So if you got access to a sauna in your health club or gym, it won’t hurt trying it out before an examination.

Of course urine drug tests require a person to submit his or her urine. That’s why it’s important that you hydrate your body from within. Drink fluids, most especially water. Juices such as that from cranberry can also be beneficial. But refrain from drinking too much on the day itself, as it will cause the sample you submit to be excessively diluted.

Try not to submit the very first urine of the day you can produce. That’s because it tends to be “dirty” as it may contain drug metabolites produced while you sleep. Additionally, your first urination in the morning will help flush out any microorganism present on the urethra. Urinate a few times before getting the sample for your urine drug test.

If you want to pass a drug test, it’s actually quite easy. However, there are a few things that not everyone knows about the process of hair follicle testing, urine testing and the oral test. Here are a few points to keep in mind before submitting to a drug test.

It Takes Up To Three Days To Detox

We’re not here to judge you, but we are here to say: It can take up to three days for your system to clean out. So it’s a good idea to get clean when you start applying for jobs, and stay clean until you’ve been tested. THC usually takes about a day, Opiates two to three days, and most other drugs two to three days.

Poppy Seeds Will Do It

If you love poppy seed muffins, well, poppy seeds are what they make heroin out of, and if you eat enough of them, it can show up on your test. Other seemingly harmless items can do it, too. Certain prescription and even over the counter medicines, certain exotic or delicacy foods etc. In general, as long as you stay away from poppy seeds and any medicines you don’t have a prescription for, you should do fine, though.

Skipping is Better than Failing

Let’s say a day before your testing, your roommate lit up a (medicinal) recreational cigarette. Now you’re worried that you simply won’t get the job because there may be a trace of your friend’s prescription in your body. Well, it’s better to call your would-be employer and explain that you can’t make the test today. If you fail a drug test, you DEFINITELY won’t get the job, but if you miss the test, then you can usually take it again later, and most employers won’t accept “It was my roommate’s!” as an excuse for failing the test.

The standard approach to the use of muscle relaxants is to use them for the treatment of acute, i.e. short-term, injuries. The idea is to reinforce the need for a complete rest by relying on the sedative qualities of muscle relaxants. This gives the body a chance to begin healing. Then, with physical therapy, you can slowly restore strength and mobility. Because it’s not safe to use these drugs over any significant period of time, their use has been overlooked in the treatment of chronic diseases and disorders. Indeed, there’s been poor coordination between the specialists and the generalists who want to establish pain management as a specialism in its own right. Those who have built their empires on the back of particular injuries or diseases, are reluctant to give up control of patients to a new department that might challenge their authority. The result is long waiting times for people with chronic pain to get effective treatment for the pain.

Speaking at a recent European conference, Professor Varrassi reported the results of a long-running study. About 25% of adults in Europe are affected by some degree of chronic pain. Lower back pain is actually the second most common reason for people to visit their doctor in search of treatment. Yet the average delay between the first consultation and a reference to a specialist pain center is about twelve years. The main reason for this long period is that doctors prefer to continue dealing with their patients even though this may mean nothing more than increasing the potency of the painkillers used. This leads to a constant battle to balance the reality of the pain against the side effects of the opiate drugs most often used. Professor Varrassi strongly argues for a complete reeducation of doctors. The evidence clearly shows there is a strong neuropathic element to chronic pain, and continuing treatment for a physical condition is not going to work.

The Europeans are therefore arguing for a multidisciplinary approach to managing chronic pain. They believe the main focus should be on physical therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and the selective use of muscle relaxants over short periods of time. The strategy is to relax and calm the body both through a drug like Carisoprodol and, say, deep muscle massage. With physical relaxation induced through Carisoprodol, the therapist can apply corrective therapy to the muscles, tendons, ligaments and the associated soft tissue. What is damaged can be encouraged to regain mobility with less pain. Once the combination of drug and physical therapy has established a new baseline for mobility, the cognitive behavioral therapist can move in to suggest how movement can be optimized within the new physical limits. The idea is to find ways of improving the quality of life. This lifts the mood and allows the patient the opportunity to view pain in a slightly different light. The main problem with chronic pain is that, the longer it goes on, the more depressed the person can become. But if the use of, first Carisoprodol, and then therapies can demonstrate the practical possibility of less pain and increased mobility, optimism can return. Mood is everything in the management of long-term pain. So long as traditional doctors focus on the body, treatment will always fall short. The individual patient should become the focus of attention. With a holistic approach, everything becomes possible.

Before using Carisoprodol you should check with your pharmacist or doctor to make sure you will not be harmed by any allergies you might have to the drug itself, to any other drugs, to meprobamate (Miltown or Equanil), or if you suffer from porphyria. You should also seek your doctor’s advice if you have one of the following conditions:

If any of the above applies to you, your dose may need to be adjusted or you may need to do some tests to make sure this drug is safe for you.

This medication may be habit-forming. It is thus suggested to seek doctor’s approval to take it and not give it to anyone else, especially to persons who have a history of drug addiction.

Administration of this medication should not be discontinued and the dosage should not be changed without doctor’s advice as you may experience withdrawal symptoms. These may include sleeping problems, stomachache, headache, nausea and convulsions (seizure). Never stop taking this medication suddenly. You may need to wind off the dosage slowly before you completely stop using it.

This medication may harm a fetus and possibly a nursing infant, although it has not been explicitly shown that this medication passes on to breast milk. Please consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or have just had a baby.

Interactions

Before taking Carisoprodol you should be aware of its interactions with several drugs, including:
CNS Depressants – combined with other depressants like alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines and tricyclic antidepressants, this medication can have an additive sedative effect. Using this medication concomitantly with meprobamate is also not recommended.

CYP2C19 Inhibitors and inducers – because this medication is metabolized in the liver through CYP2C19 and forms a meprobamate, a simultaneous administration of CYP2C19 inhibitors (fluvoxamine or omeprazole) can lead to a reduced exposure of meprobamate and an enhanced exposure of Carisoprodol. Aspirin in low dosage has also showed some induction effect on CYP2C19, although the pharmacological effect of these has not been fully studied.

Other drugs can interact with Carisoprodol as well. It is best to talk to your doctor and mention all the medication you are taking before taking this drug. Interactions with herbal products, minerals and vitamins, and any other drugs may be possible.

Overdose

The most common overdose effect from this medication is a CNS depression. Other problems, such as hypotension, respiratory depression, seizures, hallucinations, delirium, nystagmus, dystonic reactions, mydriasis, blurred vision, poor muscular coordination, headaches, coma and death have been reported as a result of overdose. Many cases of overdose were related to multiple drug overdose, when Carisoprodol has been used in excess dosage together with illegal drugs or alcohol. Because of its interaction with other CNS depressants, a simultaneous use of these with an excessive dose of Carisoprodol can lead to overdose.

If you miss a dose

If you happen to miss a dose you should take it as soon as you can. However, if you remember about it close to the time when your next dose is due, you should skip the missed dose and only take the one due. You should not double the dose in order to catch up.

Beat acute muscle injuries

September 21, 2010

Ask any doctor how to manage acute muscle injuries and the answer will always come back the same. When you have a sprain or strain, the first stage is always rest. There must be a chance for swelling to reduce and for drugs to eliminate any inflammation. Add in the use of ice packs (with care not to cause frostbite) and the careful placement of damaged arms or legs to keep them above the level of the heart and you have everything under control. During this time, muscle relaxants will be used to ensure there’s no real risk of spasms and to give the muscles the best chance of starting to heal. The second phase sees the gradual introduction of exercise. In a perfect world, this will be guided by physical therapists with experience of rehabilitation. There are two primary objectives. First, you have to aim for restoring mobility sooner rather than later. This means tackling the pain. Secondly, you have to rebuild the strength in damaged muscles, tendons and ligaments.

The body’s usual response to a muscle injury is to persuade you not to move with the threat of pain. You know how this works. Even the slightest movement seems to trigger waves of pain that leave you convinced staying frozen in that one safe position is best. Except the body has not read the latest medical books, all of which say that restoring movement is best. Indeed, the longer you stay curled up in a ball, the worst it will be when you do finally make a real effort to move. Muscles lose their tone and joints can slowly seize up. For some, this produces an alarming reality. You can be lying all innocently in a hospital bed one or two days after an accident and suddenly physical therapists are getting you out of that bed. This comes as a shock. Even with painkillers, this is not a “walk in the park”. But you grit your teeth and, slowly, you move with more confidence.

That’s when the exercises begin. They are the most boring thing you have ever been asked to do. Just gentle, repetitive movements. Even when small weights are added in, there’s no real challenge and motivation is a problem. That’s where the games come in. Physical therapists have recognized the power of the Wii system to capture interest and start a little competition in a ward or rehab gym in a clinic. Put up a big screen and pick the games to strengthen the muscle groups being treated in each patient. Play improves coordination and balance. It encourages flexibility in the shoulders, elbows wrists, spine, hips, knees, and ankles. A little competition is a reward for all the hard work of routine exercise. To help guard against muscle spasms as play begins, Carisoprodol can be used. This relaxes the main muscles groups and reduces the risk of cramp during and after play. This is not to say Carisoprodol should be used in every case. In some, it produces too high a level of drowsiness and makes play impossible. Nevertheless, once you have built up a little tolerance to Carisoprodol, it can be the difference between flinching every time you try a larger movement, and achieving strength and grace in your movements. Many buy a Wii system to keep on playing at home. Wherever you are, it’s better than the boredom of routine exercise.

Weight loss is America’s number one problem. Unfortunately the world is full of people that are unable to control themselves when it comes to food. Anyone in this world did have his moments when he was addicted to something he really liked. Food is better than drugs in this case, many of you can state. Yes it is better, but we can’t say that food addictions are healthy. They can be unhealthy as well. It doesn’t matter as long as it doesn’t bother you. If you are happy with the way you are and you enjoy living in the body you are in – consider yourself lucky. If you don’t – then that is an issue.

Medical industry is willing to give us a big range of products that suit one or the other. Tell me, what would you rather go for – a chemical combination or herbs? Who would you trust to treat you better? Many of us think that drugs and their chemical elements save us from serious illnesses. But let’s remind ourselves of the times when people relied on herbs to cure them. It all made perfect sense back then.

If you are anxious to get yourself something to eat, remind yourself that you have to stop before it gets too far. Sometimes weight problems get out of proportions and can’t be stopped without medical consultations.

Did you ever consider a diet? If you are on a diet, consider reducing caffeine in your drinks. Fast food and bistro food are very attractive. They haunt you everywhere. Next your house or around the corner they want you to taste their food. They get you addicted very easily. You don’t have to ask them to invite you over no more. You will be searching to find the nearest McDonalds or KFC yourself.

Meridia is the medication that doctors work with in the domain of pound loss program. It is practical and effective. Meridia may not be the first drug you consider when you think of obesity due to the fact that there are better advertised medications but it definitely is a good choice if you ask for our opinion. For those of us who can’t trust ourselves to stop eating in big portions there are special treatment or medications that can take all the responsibilities for us in food consumption area.

If we go on talking about herbs it is fair to mention that nowadays people in America prefer herb remedies to pharmacy pills. They give no side-effects and they are easily controlled. Not only do you treat your food anxiety but also you become healthier.

You can make herbal tea or you can get herbal drops. Whatever way you prefer it. Usually they come much cheaper, that is a big plus as well.

To those of us who have ever suffered from fast weight gain and obesity, we want to say a few words. Don’t let anybody think you are too fat or unpretty. Everything begins in your head. Don’t let your food preferences take over your life and control your body sizes. This is not normal. If you keep up with a good diet, work out and eat regularly in small portions – you can always count on a fit body and a healthy attitude. Quit smoking, stop drinking… live healthy. Believe us, at the end of the day you will come to realize that is nothing better than a harmony between mind, body and soul.

Keep your heart healthy

September 19, 2010

This is one of those stories in which medicine and common sense seem to overlap. It should not surprise us that anxiety may be a contributing factor to heart problems. We’ve seen all too many movies and TV plots where the victim gets all stressed and, clutching his or her chest, then falls over moaning, “My heart is finally giving up my ghost.” or words to that effect. Anyway, there’s new research suggesting the way people are treated if they have an anxiety disorder may change their chances of survival. So, before we continue, here’s a little challenge for you. Just what do you think the relationship is between anxiety and heart attacks?

Generalized anxiety disorder is increasingly severe worry without any specific cause. So, before you have a stroke or heart attack, the link is less clear. How are we to decide whether you have heart disease because you smoke, or are overweight, or have a poor level of health and never exercise, or have a general level of anxiety in your life? But once you have an “incident”, this will naturally give you a real health problem to worry about. To that extent, the GAD stops being generalized and becomes the entirely understandable fear of death from a further “incident”. Now there really is a choice to be made by the doctors treating you to decide what balance to strike in the treatment for the heart and the anxiety problems. But before the “incident”…

Recent research out of Holland followed just over one-thousand people whose health was less than perfect, but all had a stable heart. Of them 10% had GAD. Over time, the risk of heart attacks was 75% higher for those with GAD. This is not the first time research has shown anxiety as a major contributing cause of strokes and heart attacks but, because of the problems of identifying cause and effect, the results are not yet scientifically convincing. You first have to eliminate all the other contributing factors. Nevertheless, if you are young and have GAD, it may be worth having a full health check-up including your cardiovascular system. Just because these scientists are not convinced does not mean you should not protect yourself against the possibility.

In this, Xanax will play an important role. As one of the best anti-anxiety drugs on the market, it will bring down the immediate level of anxiety. Remember this is a short-term measure to bring your body into a better balance and improve your quality of life. More importantly, it will give the doctors a chance to take blood pressure and other measures before and after reducing the stress. This can be a vital indicator of the actual contribution being made by the anxiety to your health problems. But, because Xanax can be habit-forming, you should not rely on it to provide preventative treatment against heart disease. There are other ways of achieving that result and your doctor will advise. To become dependent on Xanax is not a good price to pay for reducing the threat of heart disease. You should look at counseling and therapy as one option, and the range of other drugs available to control blood pressure, etc. You may also have to consider lifestyle changes to reduce weight and lower the level of cholesterol in your blood.

Most of you have probably heard about the drug Isotretinoin, which is believed to be one of the most effective treatments for the most severe cases of acne. Still, if you don’t know much about the drug, and didn’t take your time to see what it is, in short it is simply a synthetically produced Vitamin A, which acts just like the natural substance we can get from natural products.

And you probably know that the majority of synthetic drugs and vitamin supplements deliver certain side-effects along with the benefits they are created for. Isotretinoin is not an exception. Of course, there’s no doubt about the effectiveness of this medication as it’s supported by numerous tests and case studies. Still, the mere fact that you have to have a prescription for it and sign a special liability waver is just enough to make us think that something us suspicious here. The majority of acne medications require prescription and strict supervision by the doctor during the course of treatment. Of course, this doesn’t mean that taking these drugs will inevitably lead to any harm to your body. However, it’s still safer to go with natural options that don’t have any side effects than to take synthetic derivatives and hope that you won’t experience any unpleasant reactions.

Vitamin A is responsible for the maintenance of the eye and skin condition. This was the reason why pharmacists have developed isotretinoin, a synthetic form of Vitamin A, which is the main active ingredient in the highly popular anti acne drug Accutane. However, the main difference is that the natural forms of Vitamin A, namely alpha and beta carotene, which are widely spread in different foods, don’t have the toxic potential of the synthetic form. Which makes the natural form superior to that found in Accutane.

Natural and organic forms of Vitamin are widely available as separate supplements and multi-vitamin solutions as well, which can be found in nearly every store and purchased without a prescription. The best part of it is that a bottle of 100 beta-carotene capsules will cost you about $10, which is only a fraction of what you would pay for Accutane. Moreover, such supplements have a lower risk of intoxication if you are taking additional products containing Vitamin A.

In most cases Vitamin A supplements have about 5000IU (international units) of the active element per capsule. This amount is enough to help in mild and moderate cases of acne, and the results will be observed sooner than with the synthetic medication as the natural form is better tolerable. Still, if the situation is more severe, you may need about 2-3 capsules in conjunction with specific anti-inflammation drugs a day.

Besides the cosmetic benefits of this Vitamin A form, a recent study on beta-carotene has confirmed that this compound helps prevent mental disability and the development of such disorders as sclerosis with age.

The choice of which form of Vitamin A to choose for treating acne is yours in the end. You can go with the branded medication, and ask for a prescription to treat your acne. And you can deal with it on your own, by simply taking vitamin supplements on a regular basis. It’s up to you to decide.

Chronic pain is a problem that millions of men and women suffer all over the world. This problem is caused by a wide range of medical conditions that require serious treatment and a lot of time for recovery. And it’s obvious that people are looking for various ways to relieve chronic pain effectively. It is estimated that between 50 and 80 million US citizens are dealing with chronic pain problems on a regular basis. If the condition behind pain symptoms is treated at an earlier stage then it will be much easier to relief the pain itself. But if the problem is left untreated, the pain will last for longer periods of time and will be much harder to deal with in the future.

Chronic pain has been in focus of many scientists for decades, and now there are new methods for relieving this problem. There are many effective medications developed and special therapies such as electrical and magnetic stimulation, which are used throughout the world. The choice of treatment method is often linked to the actual cause behind the problem.

Chronic pain can be caused by injuries to muscles, joints and blood vessels. It can also be induced by other health conditions such as diabetes, cancer, arthritis or shingles. Sometimes chronic pain is not the only problem, as acute pain attacks can also occur without any evident reason, while chronic pain is not observed. No matter what is the problem you’re suffering from, you should seek medical assistance as soon as possible to find an effective solution for relieving the condition.

The key to success in your struggle with chronic pain is taking a constant pragmatic approach to the problem. You should make everything you can to effectively deal with the condition and leave the suffering behind. There’s no reason for you to suffer in silence when there are so many chronic pain medications. If you want to go the simple way, you can use drugs such as Tramadol to deal with both chronic and acute pain. However, you should first consult with your doctor before taking Tramadol in order to learn the right dosage for effective pain relief. Other options include acupuncture, which is a traditional Oriental technique that has been confirmed to be effective in relieving chronic pain. You can also go with more conventional techniques such as electrical and magnetic therapy, which involve the use of electrical currents or magnetic fields over the affected area. Physical therapy is also a very popular option for relieving chronic pain conditions, especially those that are connected to limb and joint conditions such as arthritis or injuries.

As you may see, chronic pain can be relieved and it only depends on your efforts and will. You can always pay your doctor a visit and ask what can be done in order to ease your pain. Pain is regarded as the number one cause for doctor visits all over the world. And the earlier you address a specialist, the easier it will be to treat the condition at cause. Don’t lay it over, because it’s in your own interest.
